Payson Lyman is a Partner in Simpson Thacher’s Hybrid Capital Practice, where he represents alternative asset managers, private equity sponsors, private credit funds and companies in domestic and cross-border transactions. His practice focuses on hybrid capital and preferred equity transactions, bespoke capital solutions, mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, divestitures, carve-outs, growth equity investments, joint ventures and general corporate matters. Payson advises on complex liquidity and capital structure solutions, event-driven and opportunistic investments, and other special situations transactions across a broad range of industries. He has advised leading alternative asset managers and private capital investors, including Bain Capital, General Atlantic Credit, TA Associates, The Carlyle Group, Kennedy Lewis Investment Management, Davidson Kempner and Charlesbank Capital Partners.
