The Women’s Initiative hosts a variety of events and programs centered on creating a sense of community among, and enhancing the professional development of, women lawyers at the Firm.
We host Women’s Forums that feature internal and external speakers on professional and personal development topics including: advice to my younger self, effective communication, and women in technology. We sponsor panel discussions highlighting the Firm’s female leaders and women general counsel who offered advice for building client relationships.
We coordinate Practice Advancement Conversations (PACs), which are designed to create a greater sense of community and foster informal mentoring. PACs are specifically created for female associates and counsel and hosted by female partners in the Firm’s various practice groups. PACs strengthen substantive career development and support the growth of technical legal, management and communication skills of our women associates.
We support Associate-led Lean-In Circles, which feature inspiring guest speakers such as best-selling authors, leadership coaches, the Dean of Columbia Law School, senior legal counsel at Google and at Survey Monkey, as well as roundtable discussions with Simpson Thacher partners.
In addition to professional events for female lawyers, the women partners frequently host lunches and informal social gatherings for women associates and counsel. These get-togethers foster a spirit of collegiality and camaraderie among our female lawyers.
